You always set the pace –Owek. Dr.Prosperous Nankindu

The Minister of Social Services at Mengo Dr.Prosperous NankinduKavuma was overwhelmed by Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education’s steadfast critical thinking as she presided over as Chief Guest at the Institute Management Retreat held at Jevine Hotel, Rubaga on 13 – 14th April 2022. The Retreat was meant to reflect on BRIBTE’s performance with a view of shaping the Institute intergenerational sustainability.

Owek. Nankindu thanked the Management of BRIBTE for organising the retreat to reflect on current status and think ahead. She used this opportunity to also thank the Institute for the Early Childhood and Youth Development Center recently handed over to Buganda Kingdom by IREAD. The Minister reiterated that this, and many other achievements registered by BRIBTE could not be taken for granted, rather successes attributed to critical thinking by both BRIBTE leaders and Management. Accordingly, the Minister applauded the Institute as one of the most progressive institution which the Kingdom is proud of. She mentioned that to the best off her knowledge, Buganda Royal could be the very first Kingdom Institution to organise a Management retreat shortly after the Buganda Kingdom Retreat held this year in March, just to reflect on issues pertinent to the Institution and the entire sub-sector in a critical approach. She implored other Kingdom institutions to borrow a leaf!

Owek. Nankindu highlighted that although critical thinking is very important for success of every organisation, there is no such a school where it is taught. Oftentimes, critical thinking tends to be inherent in persons that manage organisations at a time, and who coincidentally visualize ideas with others as a team. The Minister thanked all participants for having made off time and camp around. She was optimistic that their time and effort will certainly lead the Institute to new ideas and well though-out decisions.Dr.Nankindu advised participants to fight fear. She noted that fear is always the number one enemy even where good decisions suffice.

“Let fear not stand in the way of implementing the good ideas and decisions which you have arrived at in this retreat”Owek. Said

Dr. Nankindu also advised participants to reject any diversion from agreed position. She thanked BRIBTE staff for being bold in the face of the Principal, and highlighted that the day the staff stops critical advice tothe Principal will be the day the Institute shall get into serious problems. The Minister was also thankful to the Governing Council led by Dr. MulindwaKasozi for the good stewardship and supported rendered to BRIBTE in different aspects.

On behalf of the Governing Council, the Council Chairperson, Dr. Kasozi thanked the Minister for the guidance she has always extended to Council and Management of BRIBTE.Dr.Kasozi assured the Minister that BRIBTE only has challenges but not problems and he committed to always finding practical solutions to the challenges.

The Principal, Mr. Wamala Anthony thanked both the Minister and Chairperson Council for standing with the Institute at all times, and without whose guidance would perhaps affect the performance of the Institute. The Principal assured the Minister that Management was committed towards implementing the resolutions arrived at in the retreat, and that a Committee chaired by HajatRehemaKasenenehad already been set up to follow-up the implementation of agreed position. The Principal also thanked his staff for the team spirit and noted that the only unique feature BRIBTE has over other institutions is probably teamwork and harmony.
