Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education Mengo (BRIBTE) on 2nd February 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for Rural Education and Development (IREAD). The function which took place at Kazo in Nansana Municipality was honored by the presence of the Chairperson Governing Council, Dr. Mulindwa Kasozi, the Principal of Buganda Royal Institute Omuk. Anthony Wamala, the CEO of IREAD Madam May Richie, the Chairperson of Rotaract Club of Kampala, Mr. Fredrick Kitakule, among others.
Omuk. Wamala gave a brief background about the Kazo land and noted that this land was originally occupied by Muteesa II Memorial College School until 2013/14 when Mengo closed the school due to small number of students then. The land was then given to Buganda Royal Institute.
In 2021, BRIBTE got the news that IREAD was interested in a partnership that would eventually culminate into an Early Childhood Development Center. “Truth be told, myself and BRIBTE at largr were excited and we felt relieved after IREAD proposing a project coinciding with what we had earlier thought for this land i.e opening up an independent department for Kindergarten and Infant Studies. Therefore, the coming of IREAD and Rotaract Club of Kampala was a blessing towards our earlier plans, the reason we quickly took it on”. Omuk. Wamala said.
The Principal also thanked the LCI Chairperson and the entire community of Kazo for having fought tirelessly to guard and secure the Kabaka’s land amidst numerous attempts by encroachers and self seekers. “All the battles which you fought were not because this land was yours but because you knew that it belongs to Buganda Kingdom to which you are naturally committed to serve” .
